Hi again; This time from Napier; we arrived here this evening after a days driving and sightseeing. we weht to see "The Buried Village" outside Rotorua this morning; so called because it was one of the villages buried by a volcanic eruption back in 1886; (Remeniscent of Quake Lake; Eileen & Dudley) We then drove to the Waimangu Geothermal area. Walked down through the geysers etc. Very good viewing; From here back in the bus and onto The Huka Falls; These are spectacular. From ther drove on into Napier, found our site for the night and had dinner before setting down to do this.
The drive from Taupo to Napier is very scenic with up mountains and down mountains. It was made more interesting insofar as the road isdevoid of all villages and towns and guess what we were low on fuel. I guess there was no more than 4 miles left in the tank when we reached the first fuel station.
