Sorry if it looks as though we have dissappeared off the radar for the past few days. Timings did not allow us to catch up with Internet Cafe's. It is dissappointing that we are unable to operate as origionally due to poor reception/sattelite coverage in this area. We are hopefull that thios will improve next week when we go to Capetown.
Sunday 4th Jan 2009
Early start today as mass time was 8.00 A.M. Afterwards breakfast and booking some trips to keep us occupied for the week. The first trip was Sunday afternoon; A cultural trip, (Some would say that was wasted on me). Anyway we were collected from the resort and transportesd to a traditional village where we were shown the Medcine Doctors establishment; we did not find the need to actually have a consultation.
We were treated to a display of Zulu Dancing; the meaning of the dance was explained to me as "Why are the Virgins Breasts down and Flat". I did not see the connection.
There were other revelations which I will tell you but I might blush just writing these here.
We were back about 7.00 P.M. and spent time over dinner.
It was na good day and not too hot; possibly in the low to mid 70's.
Monday 5th Jan 2009.
We had a great electrical storm on Sunday night with some rain; therefore today is very humid. We went to a local town Mtubatuba this morning and it was market day. The place was tronged with people wall to wall. It was not comfortable so we took off to the beaches on the Indian Ocean. Miles of white sand and very few people about.
Afternoon we were copllected and taken on a Heritage tour of the local wetlands. QWe saw an incredible ammount of wildlife including Hippos, Rhinos amd many different species of antelope.
A superb day but early bed as tomorrow we are being collected at 4.30 A.M. local time; (S0me of you lot will only jusy have gone to bed).
Tuesday 6th Jan 2009.
Up bright and early and we were off sharp.
About an hours drive to the Umfolozi game reserve which accomodates the 'Big Five' We managed to see all except the Leopard and the Cheeta. It is amazing how close you can grt to these wild animals when you are inside a vehicle even though the vehicle is totally open.
We sprnt a great day here but now it is HOT. Today it is well into 90's. On the return journey even sitting high up in an open pick-up was like sitting in a fan oven. I do hope it is not too cold with you in U.K.
The Ladies caught up un some sleep this afternoon.
More Later
