21st Jan 2009

Good Day from a sunny morning in Sydney;

Dave & Dianne I expect you are back in sunny Luton by now; hope you had a good trip and not too much Jetlag. Our regards to the Tippings when you speak to them.

Wednesday,s travel was interesting but rather lengthy. We left Cooma at approx 11.00 A.M. and headed toward the KOSCIUSZKO National Park via Jindabyne.The entrance to the National Park is just after Jindabyne and from then you are heading deeper into the Snowy Mauntains, (an area which will be familiar to Pete if you are reading this).We drove through TREDBO; down by LEATHERBARREL Creek; then Scammells ridge lookout, & onto KHANCOBAN; (Lunch).From here we followed what was a very winding road past TOOMA reservoir, TUMUT pond reservoir and into CABRANURRA. This I understand is the highest town in the Snowys.Then it was over Mt Selwyn and onto KLANDRA. From here we headed north to TUMUT where we connected with the HUME highway back to Sydney. (Pat I trust this makes sense when you plot it). The drive though long was superb; (Your kind of drive Eileen & Dudley).
We were up and down mountains and round hairpin bends that you would not believe.
The scene of devestation following the bushfires a few years back was very evident, hundreds of acres of the skeletal remains of millions of eucplytus trees as far as the eye could see. These have been bleached white over the years and now look spooky. (Worse I would say than Yellowstone which we saw with Eileen & Dudley some years ago).
No wildlife on route though there were plenty of signs for them.
Got back to Sydney about 11.00 P.M.
Thursday quiet day prior to our trip north on Friday.

Answer to the Question about the Waterbuck; Pat about right.
When Noah built the Ark the water buck was so keen to get on that he did not go to the toilet before setting out, jumped the queue to be first on and then realised he need the loo. Noah had only just finished painting the toilet seats and had not put up any signs and the rest is history.
Speak to you soon.

Makes sense OK. What a drive, I feel worn out just plotting it on Google Earth. About 400 miles from Coomaand back to Sydney.
Keep on trekking!

Yes a long drive but not as long as we did some years ago from Vegas to Denver but we were all a lot younger then.
